The cool side of this “self-help-book” is that...like exercise and physical health…the information in this book does work. It was a pleasure to be wrong and find an intelligent and creative perspective to the pursuit of well-being and personal happiness.The Adventure of Happiness delivers a witty account and insightful perspective on how to develop an inner toolbox packed with resources needed to create a personal sense of happiness and self-sustaining fulfillment. The book itself demonstrates the fact that Dr. McDonald is a good researcher and writer. He is a proven motivational pastor and teacher, who centers on real life challenges while mindfully examining sociological, philosophical, physiological, and scientific perspectives coupled together with spiritual actualities.
In a world filled with negativity, violence, unhappiness, and blame…Dr. McDonald offers a set of spiritual and practical tools that can be used daily to cultivate our own happiness. Accomplished, not by blindly ignoring reality or by falsely redirecting “our active role” in the pursuit of our own happiness, but by looking at our role in an active life (e.g., “never skip leg day”) to continually renew our body, mind, and soul so that we don’t wait for life to be perfect, but truly enjoy it along the way.

I love this book. I especially like the way the DBT skills are encouraged. I love the down to earth, raw, real life feel of this book. I bought one for my psychiatrist in hopes that he might recommend it to others.

This book is such a good read. Though it's written from the Christian perspective, it has valuable applications and practical examples for anyone, regardless of faith background. I would highly recommend it.
